Vredestein Ultrac Pro: strong demand prompts launch of new size options for Vredestein Ultrac Pro ‘ultra-ultra-high-performance’ tyre.
- 54 new size options now available, for wheel rims from 18 to 22 inches
- Suitable for hypercars, sports cars and high-performance SUVs
- Independent tests confirm the Ultrac Pro delivers a unique balance of advanced handling capabilities and superior driving comfort
Apollo Tyres Ltd has introduced 54 new size options for its acclaimed Vredestein Ultrac Pro ultra-ultra-high-performance (UUHP) summer tyre range, which has been engineered for hypercars, sports cars and high-performance saloons and SUVs. Now available, the new size options are suitable for wheel rims from 18 to 22 inches. Existing Ultrac Pro options are suitable for wheel rims as large as 24 inches in diameter.
Launched last spring, the Ultrac Pro stands apart in a highly competitive UUHP segment by delivering an unrivalled combination of performance and comfort. Strong demand for the initial production run has prompted the development of the new sizes, ensuring compatibility with an even wider range of performance-focused vehicles.
The tyre features a unique asymmetrical sidewall design, specially created by the renowned Italian design, engineering and prototyping company, Italdesign. The unique look is inspired by the visual signature of chronometers and other quality timepieces, with the overall theme of passing time referencing the tyre’s performance focus.
Compared to the previous generation of Vredestein UUHP tyres and established products in the category, there are significant differences in the layout of materials within the structure of the tyre. This is particularly evident in the bead area and lower sidewall area close to the rim, which have been completely rethought. The resulting design makes the tyre stable at high speeds and during aggressive cornering, while at the same time offering a smooth ride over rutted surfaces.
In addition, the tyre tread incorporates an all-new, highly advanced new-generation compound produced by a smart mixing process using state-of-the-art polymers, fillers and performance resins to guarantee wet and dry grip in a wide range of temperatures.
Prior to its launch, the Ultrac Pro was extensively assessed by Spanish testing and engineering company Applus+ IDIADA to evaluate the attributes of the Ultrac Pro in comparison with six leading rival products in the UUHP category. Tested against three UUHP tyres that are strongest in terms of performance capabilities, and a further three that lead with regard to comfort, the Ultrac Pro outperformed all but one of the performance-focused UUHP tyres in the Applus+ IDIADA ‘Limit Handling’ assessment (a difference of less than 1km/h in entry and exit speed compared to the first-placed tyre), while also beating the more comfort-centric UUHP tyres in the overall ‘Ride Comfort’ tests.
Yves Pouliquen, Vice President, Commercial, Europe at Apollo Tyres Ltd, says: “There has been a very positive response to our flagship performance tyre following its introduction last year, and this move will ensure we are better able to meet fast-growing demand. The Ultrac Pro is already compatible with rims up to 24 inches, and we now cater for many of the most common size requirements across the UUHP category.”
