Castrol GTX: Castrol launches new low viscosity lubricants to help extend the life of Renault engines.
Castrol has launched two new low viscosity GTX formulations for Renault vehicles, formulated to keep engines cleaner* for longer, while helping to deliver optimal fuel efficiency. Castrol GTX 0W-16 AN2022 and Castrol GTX 0W-20 RN17 FE fully synthetic lubricants facilitate optimum performance and help to extend component life, even at low engine temperatures.
Castrol GTX 0W-16 AN2022 has been specifically developed to comply with Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance standards, Renault AN2022 requirements and API SP industry specifications. The new product is designed for Euro 7 compliant vehicles fitted with petrol engines marketed since 2022 (except RS and Alpine vehicles), and features excellent anti-sludge performance and piston cleanliness properties to help improve oil consumption.
Compatible engines for Castrol GTX 0W-16 AN2022 include the 1.2 TCe Mild Hybrid and 1.2 TCe E-TECH Full Hybrid found in the new Renault Austral**.
Castrol GTX 0W-20 RN17 FE meets the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association’s (ACEA) C5 industry specification and is approved to Renault RN17FE standard. The new lubricant is designed for certain Renault and Dacia vehicles fitted with petrol and diesel engines marketed since 2018 (except RS and Alpine vehicles). The RN17FE standard is not backward compatible to any other Renault standard, such as RN0700, RN0710, RN0720, RN17 or RN17 RSA.
Compatible engines for Castrol GTX 0W-20 RN17 FE include the 1.0 TCe found in the Renault Clio V, Dacia Sandero II, Jogger and Duster II, the 1.3 TCe included in the Renault Clio V, Arkana, Austral and Kadjar, and the 1.5 Blue dCi found in the Renault Captur II, Megane IV and the Dacia Duster II**. This new Castrol lubricant is also compatible with the 1.3 DIG-T MHEV engine included in the Nissan Qashqai**.
Sludge can be created in engines when heat breaks down the oil and mixes with dirt particles, water, unburned fuel and other contaminants. No engine, no matter how technologically advanced, is immune to the damaging effects of engine sludge.
The lubricant has a ‘3X Clean’ formula, which has been developed to contain harmful sludge, control and prevent particles sticking, and clean the engine during an oil change. With 3X Clean, the lubricant keeps engines 35% cleaner* for longer than industry standards.
Castrol GTX 0W-16 AN2022 is available in 1- and 5-litre packs, with Castrol GTX 0W-20 RN17 FE available in 1-, 5-, 60- and 208-litre packs. All products will be available to purchase from July 2024.
Castrol GTX is one of the world’s most trusted engine oils, and has been trusted by drivers and mechanics for over 50 years.
