Thursday, April 10, 2025, PETRONAS Lubricants International (PLI), a division of PETRONAS that produces and markets lubricants and functional fluids globally, will be the protagonist of an important talk at MAUTO – National Automobile Museum.
The event, entitled “La lunga strada verso la sostenibilità: Da Olio FIAT a PETRONAS Lubricants (The long road to sustainability: From FIAT Oil to PETRONAS Lubricants), which will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Museum Square, is part of the exhibition “125 VOLTE FIAT. La modernità attraverso l’immaginario FIAT” (125 TIMES FIAT. Modernity through FIAT’s imagination).
This event will offer a fascinating exploration of the evolution of lubricating fluids in the context of environmental sustainability, tracing a path from the origins of Olio FIAT, through the acquisition of FL Selenia by PETRONAS in 2008, up to the current developments in research at the Global Research & Technology Centre in Santena.
Sustainability is a key word at PETRONAS, a priority that has deep roots, already evident in the 1990s when the company, called Fiat Lubrificanti, took significant steps in this direction with the pioneering ZIT (Zero Impact Trend) project.

Speakers and topics of the Talk
Ciro Lupo, PETRONAS Lubricants International Business Head for Italy and Africa, will retrace the most significant stages of the company’s history in terms of sustainability and will illustrate the strong link with the Piedmont region, highlighting how the presence of the PETRONAS Global Research & Technology Centre represents an element of continuity with the local industrial tradition.
Marina Barbanti, Director General of UNEM (Unione Energie per la Mobilità), will present the results of the latest “Lubricants & Sustainability” report, analyzing how the evolution of fluids proceeds in parallel with that of traditional, electric and hybrid vehicles.
Mario Burrascano, Co-Founder, CEO & Innovation Manager Man & Environment, will offer an independent perspective on the topic, highlighting how companies are dedicating increasing attention to sustainability issues.
The discussion will be moderated by Federico Bollarino, Curator & Designer of the PETRONAS Heritage Highlights Corporate Museum located in Santena (Turin), and by Maurizio Arnone, Head of Future Cities & Communities Fondazione LINKS, also curator of the MAUTO FUTURE MOBILITY project
