Apollo Tyres Ltd has announced details of the new premium Vredestein Traxion CropCare, its first VF (Very-High Flexion) sprayer tyre, which will set new standards in the row crop tyre segment for stability, self-cleaning and long life. Engineered specifically for trailed and self-propelled sprayers, the new tyre will initially be available in two sizes (VF 380/90 R46 and VF 380/105 R50) when it goes on sale in early 2025.

This type of row crop tyre is relied upon by arable farmers and contractors for fitment to trailed and self-propelled crop sprayers, where a narrow tread is required to drive between crop rows. The tyre must enable stable driving behaviour while managing the substantial lateral forces that occur as a result of the sprayer’s high centre of gravity.

30% more stability

The Vredestein Traxion CropCare features a steel-belted radial carcass, a ‘Stabiliser Ring’ in the central portion of the tread and a ‘Bead Stabilizer’ that together enhance lateral stiffness by 30% compared to key competitor tyres (internal testing). The result is highly stable and accurate driving behaviour – on the road and in the field.

Sprayer tyres must be wear-resistant to maximise lifespan in challenging conditions, including higher speed on-road driving and the use of four-wheel steering. The tyre features a new iteration of the acclaimed Vredestein Traxion tread design to deliver very high levels of durability and an even pattern of wear across the tread, ensuring the tyre will match other Vredestein Traxion products in offering best-in-class lifespan.

“This product will be an important addition to our VF agricultural portfolio, ensuring we have highly competitive solutions across all key categories,” comments Guido Boerkamp, Head Off-Highway Tyres Europe at Apollo Tyres.”

More technical information on Vredestein’s new Traxion CropCare tyre available at EIMA 2024, the international agricultural trade fair in Bologna Italy from 6 to 10 November, where the tyre will be presented. Sales globally are due to commence from the first quarter of 2025.
